Becoming a Seller |
There are two ways to become a seller:
- become a verified seller, or
- participate in 4 auctions and earn 4 ratings.
After you have met the seller qualifications, you may register your account as a seller. There are three types of sellers:
- Personal: A private seller with the occasional item. There are no further requirements or obligations to being a personal seller.
- Business: A business seller must provide proof of business. A tax ID is required for registration. Business sellers must accept eCash on PhiMart transactions, and distribute olives as rewards to buyers. The olives may be set as a fixed amount, or as a percentage of the final price. The minimum percentage is .5%, and the maximum is 5%.
- Premium: Premium Sellers are PhiMart's top sellers. Only Business Sellers may apply for Premium Seller status. To become a Premium Seller, the seller must have had an account for more than 60 days. They must average $1000 in their monthly transactions for 3 consecutive months, and have over 50 ratings, with 98% positive ratings. If the positive rating drops below 98%, Premium Seller status may be revoked.
When you wish to become a seller, click the "Seller Registration" link. Approval for Personal Sellers is automatic and immediate, provided that you have met the seller requirements. Business and Premium Sellers must be manually approved by PhiMart.

How to Sell |
| Once you have become a seller, you may start listing your items for sale. We recommend that you use our PhiMart Manager for easy upload and management of your listings. Please consult our PhiMart Manager tutorial for further information.
You may also upload single products through our web interface. Please note that your settings cannot be saved when using the web interface.
- Choose Your Category. Select the relevant product category. For ease of use for the buyers, please be as specific as you can. You may also wish to select a review category to link your customers to product reviews.
- Product format. Choose the type of listing you wish to use: auction or ShopNow. Auction style listings may still include a ShopNow price for a nominal fee. Business sellers have the additional option of Mini Store listings.
- Product information. Enter your product title and all relevant information. If you are selling multiple items, you may wish to specify the size and color of your products. However, this option is only available through our PhiMart Manager Basic application.
- Description. Describe your product. Please be sure to use your own words. Consult our Safe Guardian Brand Protection to find out more about PhiMart's protection of intellectual rights.
- Pictures. Upload images of your product. The images must be in jpeg format, and you must own the rights to these images. Do not use pictures taken from another website or PhiMart user.
- Video. You may also wish to upload videos of your product to further demonstrate its uses and functionality.
- Selling Setting. Specify the price, product quantity, and duration of the listing. Entering the retail price can help entice buyers by allowing them to see the savings they get from purchasing your product.
- Olive Mileage Setting. Our Premium Sellers must give out olives to their customers. When you decide to participate in the program, you can set the number of olives given as a percentage of the final sale price or as a fixed amount.
- Charity Setting. Participating in our charity option will allow you to donate a percentage of your proceeds or a fixed amount. For more information on our charity program, see Phi Charity.
- Payment Methods. Choose the payment methods that you will accept, and detail payment instructions.
- Shipping. You may specify the methods of shipment, and the fee charged for each method. If you are willing to ship internationally, check the "International" box. The form will expand to reflect more options and fees. If accepting returns, please be sure to specify your return policy to avoid problems with your buyer. If you are offering a warranty, you must also provide a written warranty policy.
- Sales Tax. Enter applicable state taxes. Please consult your accountant or a tax professional to find out if your products need to be taxed.
- Listing Features. To make your product more visible to buyers, you may wish to use additional features to highlight your listing.
After you have completed the form, you may directly upload it or preview the listing.

Selling Using a Fixed Price Format |
| Qualified sellers have the option of selling with a fixed price. Customers pay a fixed, predetermined amount, and there is no bidding involved. To qualify for this feature, sellers must be ID verified, or have been a member for more than 15 days with 20 ratings. If the seller has a PayPal account, only 10 ratings are needed. |

Selling With a Shop Now Price |
| Qualified sellers may hold an auction with a Shop Now price attached. Sellers determine the Shop Now price. Customers may either bid on the item, or use the Shop Now option to purchase the item directly. The Shop Now option is only valid when there are no bids on the item or when the reserve price has not been met. Once there are bids, or the reserve price has been met, the Shop Now option cannot be selected. To qualify for this feature, sellers must be ID verified, or have been a member for more than 15 days with 20 ratings. If the seller has a PayPal account, only 10 ratings are needed. |

Selling With a Reserve Price |
| A reserve price is the minimum price for an item that the seller is willing to accept. It is used when the seller wishes to attract buyers with a low starting value below their selling price. When you sell with a reserve price, you are not obligated to sell your item if the reserve has not been met. Bidders will see that the item has a reserve price, but will not see how much the reserve price is for. Disclosure of the reserve price is at the discretion of the seller. |

Selling Multiple Items in a Listing (Dutch Auction) |
| Qualified sellers may sell multiple, identical items in a single listing. Bids are based on price per unit and the number of units desired. Winning bids are determined by the price per item. If there are two bids with the same price, the earlier bid wins the auction. Bidders have the right to refuse the transaction if they win the auction, but not at the desired number of units. To qualify, sellers must be ID verified, or have been a member for more than 15 days with 20 ratings. If the seller has a PayPal account, only 10 ratings are needed. |

Payment Options |
| As a seller, you set the terms and conditions of the payment methods for your products. There are benefits and risks to each payment method, and they are outlined for you under the Safe Guardian Seller Protection. Here's a quick overview of the payment options available to you:
Credit Cards: Make sure that you have the capabilities to process credit cards before selecting this method. There are many third party credit card processing services, but beware of fraudulent services.
PayPal/Google Checkout: PayPal and Google Checkout are fast and convenient, but not all buyers have a PayPal or Google Checkout account. Both offer limited protection services to buyers and sellers.
Personal Check/Money Order: Buyers mail you a personal check or money order. You will have to wait for the funds to clear before you are able to receive your money. It's a good idea to ask buyers to send the check or money order through registered mail, especially for high priced items.
eCash: Buyers may have eCash funds from olives distributed by Premium Sellers. Business and Premium Sellers cannot refuse to accept eCash for their products.

Non-Paying Buyers |
| If your buyer refuses to pay for an item, you may file for a Non-Payment Dispute after 7 days from the end of the auction. The dispute must be filed before 60 days from the end of the auction. When you open a dispute, an e-mail will be sent to the buyer notifying them of the Non-Payment Dispute. If the buyer does not respond after 7 days, you may then file for a Final Merchant Fee Refund with PhiMart. A FMF credit will be applied to your account. If the buyer does respond, the buyer and seller are encouraged to work out their differences via the Dispute Center. For more information on this process, please consult the Safe Guardian Seller Protection. |

Blocking Bidders |
| As a seller, you may specify bidder requirements or block bidders under "Selling Settings". You may block a bidder by their user ID, or set limitations. While setting limitations will safeguard you against unwanted bidders, it can also prevent potential customers from purchasing your product. The limitations are set at your discretion, and you should think carefully before imposing them. |

Charity Option |
| PhiMart provides a charity option to sellers who wish to donate a portion of their proceeds to charity. PhiMart currently works with World Vision to provide for underprivileged children. To help with this important cause, simply check the "Use Charity" box in your PhiMart Manager. You can then specify an amount or a percentage of your final selling price. |
